LeBron James can never do what Jordan could do athletically ..never! What domination has he had in the league excluding trips to the finals in this soft era. He’s nvr had a season where he avg a triple double? He’s never had a season like Jordan’s 32,8 &8 or 13 straight triple doubles. So let’s stop it believing that Jordan couldn’t play like Magic or a LeBron.. he started as a pg in high school

The reason hes so polarizing is because since he was 18 the media crowned him as a king. They have been trying to defend that decision ever since, no matter when he fails to live up to it. Also, he is polarizing because he jumps onto good teams or assembles them. Never been able to grow from within.

Jordan made basketball great because of his scoring and artistry in doing so. There was no technology to boost the amount of fans. All people saw was Jordan in the hardwood, and in the air. Plus, competition was fierce. LeBron's just really riding Jordans wave.

GOAT'S can't have a losing record in the biggest moments. That's one of the criteria for measuring who the GOAT is. Losing happens, but losing in the biggest moments can't exceed your wins. This criteria alone is why I can't put LeBron in the top 5. Another criteria is dominance in the biggest moments.

Robert '7 rings, no MVPs' Horry like others is dishonest in his comparison of LBJ vs MJ. MJ worshippers seldom mention the Bulls begged mgmt to acquire the NBA rebound champ Rodman from the Spurs. MJ won his last 3 rings on a super team - he and Pippen are on the NBA 50 greatest list and Rodman was rebound king all 3 yrs with the Bulls. Everybody knew Rodman's domination but never talk about it. Why? MJ boasts that his best Bulls team was the one that set the then NBA wins record, 72-10. Rodman was on that team his 1st year. MJ won his rings under a HOF coach and never won a ring w/o Pippen. LBJ never played on a super team. He never had a Pippen-like sidekick and the NBA rebound champ and defensive specialist as teammates. Horry and others know this. MJ and the Bulls were favored to win 5 of their 6 finals. LBJ is the only player to win Finals MVP w/ 3 clubs. He won a ring w/ each in his 2nd yr. The Cavs had never won a ring before. The Heat and Lakers hadn't won a ring in at least 6 yrs. LBJ's finals teams were often the underdogs yet he defeated better competition than MJ faced in the finals. He defeated the reigning champ Warriors, the former champ Spurs w/ their HOF coach, OKC w/ KD and Westbrook and the Heat w/ their championship coach. MJ's 1st ring was against the Lakers who suffered key injuries to Worthy and Scott in game 5. LBJ owns 4 rings, 4 Finals MVPs, and 4 NBA MVPs. MJ if you exclude his rings and MVPs from his super team, owns 3 rings, 3 Finals MVPs, and 5 NBA MVPs. When one looks objectively at the full picture, LBJ has surpassed MJ on any GOAT list. The real GOAT has been and always will be Bill Russell who took a Celtics team that had never been to the finals in the NBA's 10 years of existence and won them a ring his 1st year. He is the only Celtics who owns 11 rings from 12 finals over 13 seasons. He was player/coach w/ no assistant his last 2 rings. Sam Jones owns 10 rings. A few own 8 with the majority owning 5 or less. Russell's playoff stat averages in all categories exceed his career averages which is typically unheard of. He owns 5 MVPs and 4 rebound titles playing against Chambrlerlain and others. I realize MJ is associated with a very popular shoe brand but don't cheat LBJ and Russell of their rightful places to promote MJ higher than he deserves in order to sell shoes.

@Rafa Alvarez Clueless, LBJ never played on a super team and MJ refuses to acknowledge that he did. I understand that the argument for him being the GOAT takes a hit when one realizes he begged for help in Ty he firm of the rebound king to win his last 3 rings. LBJ never had the rebound champ and a Pippen like sidekick as team mates - he never played on a super team. The same kind of team MJ requested be assembled (' Go get him (The Rebound king). He can help us.') for him while hypocriticslly claiming super teams were ruining the NBA.. Before you reply you might consider that others have already read your first nonsensical post.

@Bryceton’s Awakening Pippen has been voted among the 50 greatest. Was he better before or after he won 6 rings w/ MJ? Ans: His best yrs were during this finals yrs. Stop your nonsense. When the Bulls defeated Utah twice in the finals Utah had Malone and Stockton - both on the NBA's 50 greatest list. The Bulls had MJ nad Pippen who are also on the list plus the rebound king and defensive specialist Rodman. Which team do you think should have won? Get out of your feelings and accept that MJ had a better supporting cast and his team was favored to win 5 of 6 of their rings. LBJ's finals teams were often the underdogs It's not my job to convince you of anything. If you have relevant facts that disprove my claims, please share. I'm most interested in the truth and less the opinions of folk who ignore facts that are inconvenient to their argument or position
Geo H
Geo H 3 kun oldin
@Bryceton’s Awakening Stop with the dishonesty. MJ begged for and got the NBA rebound champ on his team. Together he, Pippen, and the Bulls won 3 rings. You and others refuse to acknowledge this fact and its advantage which reveals your bias Ridiculous is your argument that Wade and Bosh or Kyrie and Love are on the same level as Pippen and Rodman. Wade was #2 at his position when he played with LBJ. Bosh at #7. The rebound champ is by definition the #1 rebounder. Love wasn't the star he'd been with the Timberwolves. Make the claim so others can laugh. His ranking when playing with LBJ will reveal such a claim as untrue. HOF coach: Tell another lie and claim Ty Lue, Spoelstra, and Vogel are on the same level as Phil Jackson. It's clear you disagree but where are the facts (i.e. rankings at the time they played with LBJ) that prove he played with elite star players. You and others know your claim is untrue. Produce the facts that sat otherwise and I'll take you seriously. Until then do some homework.
Bryceton’s Awakening
Bryceton’s Awakening 3 kun oldin
Sir this is ridiculous. "LBJ owns 4 rings, 4 Finals MVPs, and 4 NBA MVPs. MJ if you exclude his rings and MVPs from his super team, owns 3 rings, 3 Finals MVPs, and 5 NBA MVPs." This is the logic you're having to try to use to justify putting LeBron at the top when LeBron himself believed when he went down to Miami with Wade and Bosh that they would win more than 6 championships, indicating he knew damn well that he had assembled a super team. Second, Phil Jackson wasn't a Hall of Fame coach when he started to coach the Bulls. He became a Hall of Fame coach after coaching the Bulls to 6 rings. You may forget that before Phil took over the coaching spot the previous coach had gotten the Bulls to the ECF where the Bulls lost 2-4 to the Pistons. Third, Scottie didn't join the Bulls as such an amazing player. Scottie rode the bench his first year, and it took years of training with MJ to get Scottie to the point where he was a slid #2 option. Consider that MJ was the scoring champ, the steals leader, the MVP, and the DFPOTY Scottie's rookie year when Scottie was on the bench. Look at that season and seriously convince yourself that Scottie's presence alone made a drastic difference. Compare the time MJ put in with Scottie to how much time LeBron had to put in with Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, Love, and AD.

Jimmy Butler lost...period. Miss me with the heart of a champion sentiments. Only the champ can have a heart of a champion. If Jimmy Butler falls for this heart of a champion foolishness, he’ll never win a championship. Jimmy Butler needs to go back to Oz and see the Wizard, because it takes more than a heart to win a championship.

Only reason why people hate lebron so much is because they fear he’s so close to dethroning mj it’s that simple. When he was ringless in Cleveland a lot more people liked him. Now that he has 4 rings and looks like he could catch mj and his 6 which is the only thing they used to diminish lebron they are scared.

Watch "MJ vs Lebron: the BEST Goat comparison" by DANGERProduction. By far the best and most comprehensive comparison that accounts for different eras and positions MJ and LBJ played. You will find MJ is way ahead of LBJ overall, he beats him in personal accolades/statistics/winning/clutchness/eye tests. MJ not only had more rings, but was: 10 times scoring champ (LBJ 1), 9 times all defence 1st team (LBJ 5), 1 time DPOY (LBJ none), 6 times NBA Champ (LBJ 4), 6 times FMVP (LBJ 4), 5 times MVP (LBJ 4), 2 times slamdunk champ (LBJ none), 3 times steals leader (LBJ none), not mentioning his rebounds (in contrary to public belief, MJ's ranking is higher amongst SGs than LBJ's ranking amongst SFs), win shares (MJ number 1), player efficiecny rating (MJ number 1), shooting percentage in clutch time (MJ 50%, LBJ abysmal 20%) etc,way ahead of LBJ, the differences go on and on. The number of differences here speaks for itself. Oh yes, MJ's college career won him: 1 x freshman of year, 1 x NCAA champ, 2 x players of the year

Not believing LeBron is GOAT does not mean we are "hating". He's not as good as MJ. No amount of stats, team hopping, talent recruiting or whining to the the media will change that. Stop forcing us to believe it. If LeBron was a better player, we would know it by now. It doesn't take 20 years for us to acknowledge GOATness. Did it take 20 years for us to acknowledge Michael Jackson or was it obvious early on? Did we need to wait until he sold a certain number of records first? No. You are who you are. Accumulated stats don't make you the best or else Usher or Justin Timberlake might have an argument. Records don't make you the best. Even rings don't make you the best. You know it when you see it. We've seen LeBron. He's not as good as MJ. That's not hating on LeBron just like me stating Michael Jackson was a better entertainer than Usher even if Usher ends up selling more records.

Regarding public perception, Lebron is in a unique situation. His legacy was severely damaged by The Decision and the subsequent preseason celebration. I don't think he'll ever win back the people he lost from that, ever. So assuming thats 50% of NBA fans, he's left with maybe a 25% allegiance if that? He's wedged between soliciting boomers+gen x and millennials+gen z for respect. Whereas Jordan was encompassed by all and respected by all without efforts in obtaining his status. A phenomenon. Also Jordan was transcendent. He wasn't a superstar. He was a megastar. Global; mythical in many places around the world. He ascended above the game without ever intending to do so nor did he advertise his brand that way.
Antinomy

@Anthony Bush Business is business. You can't fault him for that, and besides, it's a sneaker company. It's a byproduct of his greatness on the court. Respect is earned, not demanded. Did you see Jordan or any NBA player prefix their name with "King?" King James? It's embarrassing. Total millennial playbook. Lebron is an insecure guy who surrounds himself with yes-men. Had he grown up with a father or even attended college for a year I think his approach would've been entirely different. Where's the humility? He has a lot in common with trump actually. Smh...

@Durand Peavley i know how they work and I've watched them develop since their inception. That's how I know that the Goat debate with Lebron has been kept alive by a sports media that curiously have many Lebron fanboys who are on TV everyday to do his bidding. The connections behind the scenes tell the whole story. How many times can we have an MJ vs Lebron debate and everytime a poll is taken MJ wins by a significant margin even after all of this campaigning for Lebron over the past 7 years. It's obvious!
Durand Peavley
Durand Peavley 9 kun oldin
@Lenny Beason lol do u know how tv debate shows work? u typically have 2 or more people on set with each person having a different opinion...they are usually over the top and animated and will exaggerate and stretch truths to prove their side. So for every shannon sharpe there is a skip bayless....if anything there are more media personalities that have jordan as the goat...stephen A and max kellerman are both jordan and have the best time slot on espn...skip bayless, colin cowherd is a flip flopper, Bucher, jason whitlock, stephen jackson, matt barnes, jalen rose, chris Broussard, and rob parker all have jordan #1...so just because some media personalities have the opinion Lebron is the goat its propaganda taking over the air waves?? @Lenny Beason so did Lebron's....people just dont want to hear it because they have a special attachment to that time frame and that player....my dad and uncle thought oscar and wilt were the goat respectively...and didn't think much of cry baby jordan and the rich pampered stars of the league compared to what they watched. (Sounds familiar to what my peers tell their kids today) And if u didnt know athletes had writers and publicists to control their images u need to do ur homework...the 24/7 sports media was not around in jordans day and neither was social media. Its just a different era.

@Mark Warner I’m sorry your feelings were hurt by facts! I didn’t fabricate anything! All you have to do is listen to you and Lebron you are excuse makers! To say he takes accountability for his failures is a joke! You know what he said after he choked and played scared in 2011. He said now all the people criticizing him would have to go back to their average lives? So you think that is taking the blame? And saying it’s on him? Lol wake up blind witness and stop your nonsense. No wonder he’s your hero you are in denial just like he is. And yes he is the king of making excuses without question. Whenever he fails blind witnesses like you and him blame the team and say he has no help? And look Lebron got his numbers what else could he do? Please stop being a bias Lebron worshipper and actually for once admit he’s wrong some times. And I know you are a young dumb millennial. Haters???? Wtf is that weak bs? That is the millennial weak ass fall back. Oh if you don’t agree Lebron is the best and the goat then you are a hater?? Lol How about this why don’t you make your weak argument without the weak ass hater bs?? When you bring that in it just shows that I hit home with you . And you don’t have a comeback argument. Leave the weak hater bs out of it and just make your argument. Thanks And I’m not making up any false narrative at all. Has Lebron switched teams to create super teams to win rings? Yes or no? The answer is yes!!! He’s a ring mercenary that goes from team to team to win rings! Because of his inability to stay in ONE place and build a consistent winner / dynasty? Hmmm? Let me think 🤔 did someone get drafted by a forgotten horrible franchise, and take them from dirt to a dynasty and be undefeated in any championship he played in? In college ,pros or the Olympics? I believe MJ did that. Funny huh? Now is that a made up narrative? Or one you refuse to accept because it paints your hero in a negative light? Huh? And look Lebron is one of the greatest players in nba history no doubt. I never doubted that? My thing is he’s not the goat , he’s not on MJ level and will never be. MJ in his prime was just better than Bron simply put. Your hero has too many epic fails along the way. He actually LOST a finals for his team in 2011 vs Dirk and the miracles. And btw what happen in that ECF vs Dwight Howard and a bunch of nobodies? What happen is game one of the 2017 finals? Your hero having the game of his life , has the ball end of the game with Curry in him? Does he pull up shoot it over Curry and end it? No he does what he mostly does at the end of games. He passes to George Hill to win the game? Then blames JR’s sanfu the reason why he lost? Go back and look at his actions and body language at the end of game and going into OT? Instead of being a real leader , he separates himself from the team , shows disgust in his face and pours like a baby? And this is in a game he still could have won? Am I marking any of this up? Or did it all really happen? Stop being in denial blind witness. And I’m not sure why you are bringing religion into a sports debate? Keep it in the toy dept and go to another place and expose your religious belief thanks. And please he’s not the only athlete to help and uplift the unfortunate ok? Any he’s not the first to athlete to open a school for kids ok (Jalen Rise and David Robinson) . Look I know what I’ve done I’m my life ok I’m good with it? What have you done? And please don’t come on here and tell me who I am? Just because I don’t agree with you? Look you can go bow down to the faux king your hero , and think he’s all that? He’s not the chosen one?? What does that mean? The chosen one to play pro basketball? Like he’s Ghandi?? Please get over yourself already ok. And you look in the mirror , this is a sports debate in the toy department? And you are acting like we are really talking about something really important? Hahaha lol you are a joke for that no doubt. And guess what you still lost the debate and got served. Now kindly move on down the road. And go bow down and pay homage to Lebron the faux king and your hero. Awwww how special lol
Mark Warner
Mark Warner 6 kun oldin
@Double D that's a complete fabrication lebron owned up to his failures in 2011 and he has blamed himself many times when he hasn't played well in a team loss, do the research. You like many lebron haters are just making up stuff creating false narratives so you can justify your irrational hatred for another human. As for him being a so-called ring chaser or whatever another dumb reason to hate an athlete or anyone for that matter. Would you hate your brother or your best friend if they decided to leave a mediocre business and then decide to team up with highly successful cats in the field to join another establishment competing against the previous place of employment because they felt that was the best decision for them? You wouldn't because you pick and choose who you want to love and hate. You don't know these cats personally yet you judge and condemn, what does that make you? You are no better than the guy you characterize as passive aggressive an excuse maker and a mercenary. Is that the only fault you can find with him? I would bet there are athletes you like or at least don't hate who have committed crimes beating up wives girlfriends drug addicts and so on... none of which lebron has ever been guilty of. Not one arrest record considering the rotten environment he came from. I would say the dude should be celebrated rather than condemned then again maybe not even Jesus had a lot of haters so it would be foolish for me to expect people like you driven by the narcissistic ego to have love and respect for a person not on the level of Christ but who has done good things in life especially to uplift and help people. What good have you done in your life? You probably one of them cats who overlook athletes who don't give back to their community opening up schools for the less fortunate etc. Bruh the next time you decide to criticize and condemn someone i think you need to look in the mirror and realize the person whom you find fault with the most is yourself.
Double D
Double D 7 kun oldin
Mark Warner, he’s hated because he’s a passive aggressive excuse maker when he fails! He never owns the failures being the best player. And the fact he’s a ring mercenary. That jumps from super team to super team to secure rings. And he’s basically failed at that ? 4 out of 10 is not good in any metric? Just saying.

@Lane living trying to be kind but I’ll just say it, you’re initial response about his intelligence was pulled out of you’re own ass and is a joke to anyone who played the game. He’s not creative, not inspiring, not that entertaining. Mahomes is an intelligent player and uses his creativity and photographic memory to read defenses and he’s humble about it. That’s why many of his peers and talking heads want to compare him to MJ of football. You don’t see that with lebron. All you see is a big athletic guy who pats stats to stay relevant. NBA numbers are down and he’s a big reason why. He ruined the game. Sure he’s done a lot of things off the court, but it’s also probably the reason he does it is cause his polarized persona demands it. If he were more entertaining on the court he wouldn’t have to focus all his efforts off of it. Bottom line, he’s a generational athlete but not a generational talent. He makes a lot of mistakes on the court. Don’t confuse athleticism with on court intelligence. He imitates, not innovates.

@Mr. Rationale The reason the league is going down is because people dont like the mirror being held up to them. They dont want to deal with the treatment of black people in this country. Sports seems to bring out the true feelings of alot of people. Everything is good until a black man speaks up for himself. Amazing how people are so triggered by words on a court or jersey. There are so many reasons he won’t reach MJ. The main one is that he isn’t, wasnt, and will never be as good. Also, he constantly moves around the league for assets and when the assets dry up he moves to where there are more. He gives himself the ideas chances to win and then still finds a way NOT to most of the time. I think most people who watch sports do so to watch competition, not manipulation. He is hands down the most talented athlete I’ve ever seen play the game too, which makes his constant shuffling of the deck, complaining about what he doesn’t have, and movement to greener pastures after making teams sign bad deals with players like Tristen just unlikeable.
Jacob Doehrman

comedianbradfowler context LeBron teams that had won 46 games on avg previous 2 seasons with zero playoff series wins (Bosh 5/7 years in supposed weak East missed playoffs and lost in first round in 5/6 other 2 times), then he joins Cavs who literally had worst record the 4 years he was gone in NBA (Kyrie was on 3 of those teams with awful records...Love missed playoffs 0/6 years before that and 0/2 after that on mostly horrid teams)..Hell AD had won 5 playoff GAMES in first 7 years without LeBron. Wade was the only HOF without LeBron and still in prime (until he became injured and was worst in 2012-2014 Finals then Pippen in 91-93 finals).

A lot of you ppl speaking on MJ didn’t even see him play in the 80s like I did. He was PHENOMENAL in 80s and never even made the Finals bc his teams weren’t good enough or he ran into better TEAMS just like LeBron losing in Finals when he was underdog to major underdog in 7/10 Finals. His first 7 years Cavs supporting casts were 🚮. Bulls got Pippen and Horace Grant in 87 after MJ’s first 3 years when he was under .500 every year and 1-9 in playoffs! Ppl ignore context it’s so dumb

@Double D Do you have brain damage or are you normally this dumb? I don’t suppose you even know. Quote me where I said Lebron was the goat or even hinted as much. You talk like some needy girlfriend who is clinging onto her boyfriend. You’re sad dude, stop worshipping another man, it is just really, really lame. Btw Skip Bayless is a troll, his takes are part of his gimmick, they’re not supposed to be taken seriously. And you say I’m the dummy, wow, who knows, maybe I am trying to talk sense into you.
Double D

@LordBranniganThe There’s no man crush? Wtf?? That’s where you go because you have nothing to say? And you go there? Poor young dumb millennial. It’s all about respect. Look young dummy I didn’t put MJ on any pedestal fool. His playing greatest elevated him to that status. And the historians of the game put him on the pedestal? Unlike your hero the faux king? He foolishly attempted to put himself on that pedestal? Weak move by the faux king that will never be the goat. MJ the goat his play and greatest put him there. . Oh well you lost again you dummy.

@Double D Btw what’s with your man crush on MJ? It’s sad when a man puts another man on a pedestal like that, pathetic even
LordBranniganThe
LordBranniganThe 6 kun oldin
@Double D why do you use all the same catch phrases as Skip? ‘Blind witnesses’ ‘faux king’...are you not able to think for yourself? Are you that devoid of original thought that you have to mimic verbatim what the internet’s biggest troll has to say. It’s actually kind of embarrassing. If you’re going to copy someone, at least find someone who is reputable.

@Jason Spades Please enlighten with facts that Hakeem had a better team then Jordan from 1987-1994. With History of course. If you provide history, I would no longer be debating your opinion. Trust me. History always outlast bias. You're more than welcome to cross reference any of the history that I've recited. I noticed that you refuse to talk about Jordan record in the first round without Pippen during his entire career. Cute. What about Jordan and Pippen career Eastern Conference record without Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman. Adorable. You can't even say that Jordan at least beat Hakeem in the regular season because it just didn't happen. Jordan beat Hakeem in Houston only three times in his entire career. Hakeem beat Jordan in their head to head matchup for their entire career. I bet you never noticed that there was a point when the Pippen Jordan Dou couldn't even beat Hakeem in Houston from 1987 to 1996. Most Jordan fans don't even know this but they still swear. The best part is when some Jordan fans talk about Jordan as if he won a Champ without any All-Star or HOFer.

@Jason Spades Instead of talking about what Grant did in 1993, 1994, and 1995. You're just going to gloss it over with "he's overrated". No proof, facts or History. Just your personal feelings that he's overrated. Please enlighten.
Jason Spades
Jason Spades 12 kun oldin
@UCdj382-vuVzG0xWKWNOg2CA Lol I don't know what you are arguing at this point. Jordan had Pippen every other player has become overrated by people by who argue against Jordan. Kerr,Paxson, Armstrong, and Grant have become overrated.
Jason Spades
Jason Spades 12 kun oldin
@the dude The combination of Cassell and K smith better than Grant and Armstrong. Besides Jordan and Pippen most good teams had better supporting casts. Phoenix,Seattle, Blazers, etc.

Is polarizing because he's fake and the NBA allow him to get with so much calls. We see it... A.I was one of the first to get away with calls but lebron took it to the next level. How isn't A.I in the top guards? Because we as fans can see the b.s

Nobody forget Olajuwon but the Media. For example, he was FAR BETTER than Lebron but you guys don't talk about it seriously. You compare Lebron to Jordan. The only thing Lebron can do to surpass Jordan is to be better than him and that will never happen. Lebron is great for his ( weak) era but he's a joke compared to Jordan's era. And that's Olajuwon's answer that I'm paraphrasing here.
Chick Hearn4ever
Chick Hearn4ever 9 kun oldin
Agree. Eye test man. Hakeem was everywhere..that footwork and defensive ability, and then the moves were way more graceful than lebron. Hakeem was a damn beast and i rank him higher than LBJ, talent wise.
Tangara Speedgoda
Tangara Speedgoda 10 kun oldin
@Tyler Holt Lebron is more famous and more popular (well, I guess...) than Olajuwon. But a better player or more dominant? No. Just no. Olajuwon is underrated and Lebron is overrated (not saying he's not great).

Expansion teams only borrowed bench players. Two of the expansion teams made playoffs in the 90s. Does super team building hurt league competitiveness??
Tyler Holt
Tyler Holt 18 kun oldin
You are in the minority with that opinion. The fact that you call this era weaker despite there being 6 expansion teams in Hakeems era is actually just funny. 20% of the league would be considered to be as bad as the knicks are today. Thats true, look it up. Hes great but Lebron is on mount rushmore

Oh yeah well I believe the NBA should stop allowing the fans and media to have an input on awards like all-star appearances, and individual awards. Only retired players, active players and coaches should vote on such honors. The iq level of the NBA fans has gone down and the media members are biased.

@Bruce Wayne I feel you but what I'm getting at is they usually understand the feeling of having the pressure on your shoulders and being in those situations. Robert Horry even though he had a decent career never was in the drivers seat to know that feeling. So they aren't objective to how difficult it really is to be the best player & have those expectations. That's why they can make those comments. Same with a president he knows what it is like & that's why most presidents look at former presidents to help guide their decisions. Someone on their level knows

It is a team game at the end of the day, role players matter just as much as an a-list player. Problem with fans who just watch give too much credit to big names, everyone has a role from the players to coaches.
